Medieval Market town of Market Drayton

Located in North Shropshire, Market Drayton is a traditional Shropshire market town with origins dating back to before the Domesday book. Modern buildings in the tow centre mix with fine examples of 17th century black and white constructions.
The town claims to be "home of the gingerbread", which has been produced in the town for over 200 years. The Wednesday street market dates back over 750 years. Click here to find out more about Market Drayton.

Dorothy Clive Garden Shropshire Union Canal

The Shropshire Union Canal runs from the edge of urban Wolverhampton through some of the most underpopulated areas of England to the River Mersey at Ellesmere Port, about sixty miles in all and taking a fairly leisurely four days to cruise. The scenery can be dramatic, with sweeping views across to the Welsh Marches and the ridge called "The Wrekin" from the long embankments and with the atmospheric heavily wooded deep cuttings, a number of which were reputed by the old boat people to be haunted.
